Blyton,E.1940, The Naughtiest Girl In The School, Dean & Son
ptd, London, UK
I think that this book will be about a girl named Elizabeth who is in a strict school and she is ALWAYS being a mis-behaved, disobedient little girl. I also think that it will be about how naughty she can really be, or, will she change for the better??

"Jennifer was a jolly looking girl, with straight hair cut short, and a thick fringe. Her brown eyes twinkled, and the other girls felt that she would be good fun."

1. Describe the time and place in which your novel is set. What clues within the book tell us this?
My book is set in England in the early 1940s. I know that because they use language like dreadful and horrid and shan't and things like that so it tells me that it was set a while ago. I know it was set in England because they say mummy not mom and everything is very posh, ELizabeth also says, "mummy I don't want to go the school in the city!" and her mother says, " You must go to london to get a good education!"

2. Who are the main characters in your book? List the names and a short description of their personality traits.
Elizabeth: Naughty and rude but secretly nice
Joan: Timid and shy but not afraid to stand up for friends
Rita: Strict but kindhearted
Nora:Nice if you are nice to her
Ruth: Means well but can get you upset
The 3 brothers, Greedy, Selfish and Smart and Death, evil
3. What are the signifigant relationships between the main characters
Elizabeth absolutely hates Ruth because she called her a baby and gave her money to the jury at the school meeting, but on the other hand, elizabeth hates almost everyone!
Miss Belle and Miss Best are always together because they are the head of the school. I suspect Miss Belle and Miss Best, or as elizabeth likes to call them, Beauty and the Beast, have a very close relationship from working together day in and day out for a very long time! This just goes to show that oppisites can work together in peace!

4. Who is your favourite character and why? Or - Who is the character that you can most closely relate to and why?
My favourite character is Elizabeth because she is very amusing because you never know what she is going to do next!! She has two sides, her (terribly) naughty side and her kind-hearted side

5. Describe the style of language and literary devices that the author uses.
a) Find examples of; colourful adjectives, similes, metaphor, dramatic irony, etc..
b) Find a quote (with page number) for each example.
Horrid, Dreadful, Shan't, Shall, arithmetic, dictation

6. Is your book an example of ‘classic’ or ‘modern’ literature? You must use evidence to back up your stance. For example; has your book stood the ‘test of time’? Are there theme’s that will transcend time?

7. After reading the book, write a short note to a friend describing the book. Include a description of the genre, setting and difficulty level. You need to also include the following information; What were the main themes in the book? What was the central conflict? How was it resolved?
Describe your feelings towards the novel.
Did you enjoy it, why or why not?
Did you find it easy to get into? Did you like it the more that you read it?
Would you read more books by the same author, or of a similar genre?
the genre of the naughtiest girl in the school is children's novel. The setting is in the 1940's on the outskirts of London. The difficulty level would be yr 5 to yr 7 girls. The problem was that Elizabeth's best friend Joan never gets letters from her family at all so she is always made fun of and upset. On Joan's birthday ELizabeth wants to make her happy so she sends cards and presents and she writes "with love from mummy and daddy" Joan finds out and gets really upset and ends up getting sick so ELizabeth sends a letter to Joan's mum telling her all about what happens and then she comes to the school and then something I don't want to give away happens and then Joan's mum and Joan are together again
